EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A former attorney is accused of taking a client’s money and faking the work.
Jared Thomas, 41, is charged with forgery, fraud, and practice of law by a non attorney.
Police say a woman hired him to expunge her criminal record.
The victim says Thomas took $950, but lied about filing the paperwork.
When confronted by police, they say Thomas claimed a paralegal had access to his computers and had been filing false documents without his knowledge.
Detectives say his meetings with the victim were after he had been disbarred.
They say Thomas has a previous conviction for felony check deception.
