New deli taking place of former Tom+Chee in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The former Tom+Chee restaurant building in Evansville isn't staying empty for long.

The site review agenda for Monday shows Lakes Metro Deli is moving in the spot.

The building on North Green River Road is also home to Fired Up and Azzip Pizza.

The owner, Lake Russell, tells us he will offer several different deli type sandwiches, including New York style pastrami and corned beef.

He says he is doing Americas favorite sandwiches from Americas favorite sandwich shops.

Russell didn't yet know an opening date.

Tom+Chee closed in September. They were opened for about two years.
