GREENE CO., (WFIE) - Mason Hartke, 19-years-old, of Jasper, turned himself into police on Saturday and he has since posted $60,000 bond.

Hartke faces three counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in death. He also faces three counts of reckless homicide.

One of the most shocking things 14 News learned was what authorities saw when they first arrived on scene.

According to the authorities, Hartke and Josie Rinehart were both trying to crawl away from their cars. We know Josie survived, but her sister, father and grandmother all died that night.

Authorities say Hartke admitted to troopers he had been drinking at Indiana University before the crash. Four friends at IU told investigators the same thing.

The probable cause affidavit shows Hartke's blood alcohol level was 0.16. Hartke has been in trouble for alcohol before.

Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw, tells 14 News, Hartke entered a Pre-Trial diversion program in Hamilton County just two months ago for illegally possessing alcohol.

As for the deadly wreck, investigators said Hartke was traveling 76 mph and did not hit the brakes before the crash.

Hartke's initial hearing is set for Dec. 8 in Greene Superior Court. Hartke is not allowed to leave the state of Indiana without court permission.
