DNR: Speed, alcohol possible factors in ATV wreck that sent pair to hospital

SPENCER CO., IN (WFIE) - Two people are in the hospital after an ATV accident in Spencer County.
According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the wreck happened on Saint Peter's Church Road around 4:50 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
DNR officials say 21-year-old Derek Mulzer, of Lamar, IN, lost control of the Polaris Razor ATV he was driving causing it to overturn at least once. The passenger, 22-year-old Justin Hedinger, of Dale, IN was thrown from the vehicle.
We're told Hedinger suffered head trauma and broken bones and was taken to Memorial Hospital in Jasper and then he was transferred to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville. Mulzer was taken to St. Marys, where he was treated for head trauma.
St. Mary's officials say Mulzer has since been discharged from the hospital and Hedinger is listed in good condition.
DNR officials say speed and alcohol were both possible contributing factors in the crash. They also say helmets were not being worn at the time of the wreck.
The accident is still being investigated.
