An Illinois State Police trooper's wife died early Friday morning after getting stranded in flood waters.
Authorities say 42-year-old Jennifer Murbarger, of Fairfield, drove her car into the backwaters of the Little Wabash River in rural Jasper Township.
Crews found her vehicle abandoned. Using a state police airplane, they were able to locate Murbarger beneath ice, not far from her car.
She was taken to Fairfield Memorial, where she was later pronounced dead. The Wayne County Coroner says she died of hypothermia.
She was the wife of Illinois State Trooper Jayson Murbarger.
