Misdemeanor traffic charge against Alex Jarvis dropped
The most recent case against Alex Jarvis has been dropped. Jarvis was the Democratic Party's Political Director in the Fall.
During the Fall Festival, an Evansville police officer pulled Jarvis off of a float and detained him for not appearing in court on a misdemeanor charge.
Jarvis was charged with two previous misdemeanors for driving while his license was suspended.
Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Nick Hermann says the first charge should have been filed as an infraction, not a misdemeanor. Hermann says due to that fact, an agreement has reached to dropped Jarvis's third misdemeanor.
Evansville Police Sergeant Rick Hubbard initiated the arrest of Jarvis.
Jarvis said it was done to embarrass him and others in the party who did not support Democratic Mayoral Candidate Rick Davis.
It was widely rumored that Hubbard had spoken to Davis about being Police Chief if Davis won the election.
Davis says that is untrue and that he wasn't involved.
In a written statement on October 28th, Evansville Police Chief Brad Hill wrote that no political motive could be proved with testimony or evidence in the arrest of Jarvis.
