A 911 call obtained by 14 News links an Evansville Police Sergeant with the arrest of a Democratic party paid employee this past weekend at the Fall Festival.

This audio recording proves what sources have told us all week, that Sgt. Rick Hubbard is the one who initiated the arrest of Alex Jarvis, a paid employee of the Democratic party.

Audio: "Got a subject with a misdemeanor warrant that needs to be transported from the Fall Festival."

Audio two: "Sgt. Hubbard's got a fellow on a warrant down at the east end of Franklin down by Fulton."

Jarvis was taken into custody by Evansville Police on a warrant for a minor traffic violation.

Jarvis and others with the Democratic party say that arrest was politically motivated, meant to embarrass Jarvis and other members of the Democratic party who don't fully support Democratic mayoral candidate Rick Davis.

It's been widely rumored that Sgt. Hubbard, the man who police confirm initiated that arrest, has spoken to Davis about being police chief if Davis were to win the election.

Jarvis' arrest has many questioning why Sgt. Hubbard sought Jarvis out for having a minor violation. It's something EPD officials have confirmed to 14 News that is not typical.

Audio three: "Yeah, this is Sgt. Hubbard. Do we have a ETA on that car at Fulton and Franklin? It's a guy on a warrant here and I want to get him arrested here."

Sgt. Hubbard was off-duty at the time he called in the arrest.

Evansville Police are investigating whether Sgt. Hubbard abused his power for political reasons. He is on vacation this week. We'll keep you updated.

Meanwhile, Rick Davis says he had nothing to do with this arrest.
