Brothers, 11 and 14, left without parents after mother, father die in separate crashes exactly 2 years apart
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH/Gray News) — Two boys in Kansas are grieving the loss of their father in a motorcycle accident exactly two years after their mother and brother were killed in another crash.
On Monday night, 46-year-old Guerrero Moreno Jr. died in a motorcycle crash north of Valley Center.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office confirmed he was killed when his motorcycle collided with an SUV.
Two years ago to the day, on July 27, 2024, his wife, Erin Moreno, a teacher in the Valley Center school district, died in a crash on the Kansas Turnpike.
One of the Morenos’ sons was also killed in the 2024 crash. He was 17.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the Morenos’ surviving sons, who are 11 and 14.
“After enduring so much loss at such a young age, they are now grieving the passing of their father as well,” the GoFundMe page said.
The page is aiming to raise funds for Guerrero Moreno Jr.’s funeral and to provide support for his sons’ immediate and future needs.
“Guerrero’s greatest pride and joy were his sons. They are now facing the heartbreaking reality of growing up without either of their parents,” the page said.
