FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WBTV/Gray News) - Authorities in North Carolina say a mother is facing numerous charges following a crash that resulted in the death of her children.

According to Fayetteville police, the crash happened on June 3 when officers were trying to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that was being driven by 31-year-old Megan Symone Scott.

Authorities say Scott sped away and hit two officers, reaching speeds of 111 mph before losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a tree.

An affidavit stated that the 31-year-old mother ended up being thrown from the car, along with two of the kids who were inside. Those children were pronounced dead at the scene and a third was airlifted to a hospital, but they also did not survive.

Scott was said to have gotten into an argument with her boyfriend earlier that day and she bit him while driving. The mother then reportedly hit him with the car after he got out.

Police said they were trying to stop Scott following the reported assault involving her boyfriend.

Court records showed Scott was arrested on June 15 and has been in the Cumberland County jail since.

She faces a long list of charges that include involuntary manslaughter, failure to secure passengers under 16 years old, reckless driving and driving with a revoked license.

Scott appeared in Cumberland County court on June 18 and was denied bond and appointed a public defender.

Court documents said Scott had recently moved to the Fayetteville area before the crash after previously living in Texas and California.
