EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Regional and businesses community leaders gathered at University of Evansville on Tuesday for a major investment in early childhood education.

The Early Childhood Education Business Roundtable unveiled a significant two-year investment to expand Building Blocks Regional Training Center model.

The program supports learning providers and improves Kindergarten readiness outcomes for children throughout the the Evansville area. Numerous community partners participating in the investment.

Aleisha Wilson is President and CEO of Building Blocks: “We have some wonderful childcare and early learning centers in our community. We want to be able to strengthen those and to be able to collect data on our students to really drive our decsion making and what we’re instructing them on. So, we want to get them Kindergarten ready, which means that we need to collect the data to inform our Kindergartens what children are getting. So, our schools will be prepared for who’s coming in the classrooms in the Fall.”

Leaders say the initiative highlights the connection between early childhood education, workforce development, and long term economic growth.
