NEWBURGH, Ind. (WFIE) - Deaconess Heart Hospital is celebrating a major milestone.
Just last week, medical staff performed their 1,000th Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement.
Officials say the procedure, which they started back in 2017, is not as intense as a traditional valve replacement surgery which requires opening the chest.
Officials shared this picture of staff with the 1,000th patient, 76-year-old Dennis Rohleder of Jasper.
They say while the procedure happened at the hospital in Newburgh, Dennis will receive much of his follow-up care closer to home.
