MPD: Man arrested after firing handgun during argument on Dulin Street
MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WFIE) - Madisonville Police Department officials say a man is in jail after firing a handgun during an argument.
According to a police report, officers responded to a shots fired report in the 200 block of Dulin Street early Tuesday morning.
Officials say the compliant told dispatch the suspect, later identified as Kristopher Ervin, had shot at her and the bullet deflected off something and hit her in the chest.
When officers arrived on scene, they detained Ervin who was screaming, even though officers advised him to stop.
They say the complaint told officer she didn’t need medical attention and did not appear to have any physical injuries.
The compliant told officers when she and Ervin were verbally arguing, she grabbed a wooded board.
Ervin told police he got out his firearm but did not directly point it at the compliant and fired it.
The complaint told police Ervin indeed aimed it at her and fired the firearm at her, hitting the roadway next to her.
Officials say a shell casing was located in the roadway where the incident occurred.
Ervin was arrested and booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
He faces the following charges:
- Wanton Endangerment
- Discharging Firearms
- Assault
- Disorderly Conduct
