Woman run over, killed by her own vehicle after colliding with a deer, police say
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH/Gray News) - Kansas authorities say a woman died this week after she was run over by her own vehicle.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the collision occurred Friday morning in Edwards County.
Troopers said the woman, later identified as Rebecca Oberley, was driving her 2019 Nissan Pathfinder eastbound on U.S. 50 when it collided with a deer.
Oberley pulled the SUV over to the side of the road to check out the damage.
However, when she got out to check the damage, the vehicle was in reverse. Oberley then tripped and was run over by the SUV.
Authorities said the 44-year-old Kinsley resident died at the scene.
A 14-year-old boy was listed as a passenger in the vehicle, but was not hurt.
