Couple gets married in Ascension St. Vincent ICU
Bride’s father will soon be placed on ventilator
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - After learning that Cierrah Beshears’ father, Brandon, would soon be put on a ventilator, she and her then-fiancé decided to hold their wedding as soon as possible - at his bedside in the ICU.
The Evansville newlyweds were married Wednesday morning.
“We decided to do it today, and get it done as soon as possible, so he could be there for it,” Cierrah said. “He can’t walk me down the aisle, but he can be there to see me get married. And that’s what matters to me the most.”
And to Cierrah, that’s what matters most.
That her father could see her as a bride.
“I had to do it today for him, for myself,” Cierrah said. “Selfishly, but I think he enjoyed it too. It’s definitely a heartfelt moment that I will forever remember.”
The staff at Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville quickly pulled together a makeshift reception for the couple Wednesday afternoon- complete with treats, decorations, and a blessing from Chaplain John McMullen.
And for that, and all the staff did to support the wedding, Cierrah is extremely grateful.
“It’s one day that I will forever remember,” Cierrah said. “Not only because I’m getting married, but because my dad’s there for it.”
