Kentucky non-profits receiving grants from Deaconess
HENDERSON, Ken. (WFIE) - Several western Kentucky non-profits are about to get more funds in hopes of helping people in Henderson.
Officials say the Deaconess Henderson Hospital Community Program Fund is handing out nearly $70,000 between six different groups.
That group was formed during the merger of Methodist Hospital and Deaconess Health system.
Daniel Pitino Shelter is one group getting funds and they say there’s plenty of need.
“One of the biggest things that we are seeing is prevention is keeping people in their homes using it for like utility, rentals, application fees to get into housing or in other places that are not meant for habitation where people are unhoused,” Executive Director Harry Pedigo says.
Officials say the goal is to help in the areas they say are of most need in Henderson: mental health, substance use, access to care and chronic disease.
