FEMA opens Disaster Recovery Center in Central City

MUHLENBERG CO., Ky. (WFIE) - Good news for storm victims in Muhlenberg County.

FEMA announced they opened their Disaster Recovery Center at 61 Career Way in Central City.

Officials say they are offering in-person support to those impacted by April’s severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides.

Friday afternoon, officials say all Disaster Recovery Centers in Kentucky are closing temporarily due to inclement weather.

When they do reopen however, the center in Muhlenberg County will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The deadline to apply for federal disaster assistance is June 25.

When you apply, you will need to provide:

  • A current phone number where you can be contacted
  • Your address at the time of the disaster and the address where you are now staying
  • Your Social Security Number
  • A general list of damage and losses
  • Banking information if you choose direct deposit
  • If insured, the policy number or the agent and/or the company name
