Manhunt for ‘armed and dangerous’ man ends with arrest in Hopkins Co.

HOPKINS CO., Ky. (WFIE) - After nearly a week on the run, the manhunt for Jonathan Ruby has come to a close.

On Monday, authorities say they arrested him after receiving a credible tip of his whereabouts.

Police say he was quickly and safely taken into custody in Madisonville.

That manhunt began last Wednesday after officers found him passed out in a truck after an accident.

According to police, Ruby took off running into the woods.

Police used drones and a helicopter during their search for Ruby.

According to the Madisonville Police Department, Ruby now faces additional drug charges after officers discovered trafficking-level quantity of drugs in his possession.

“We extend our gratitude to the public for their vigilance and the many tips provided over the past several days,” says MPD on social media. “Your support plays a vital role in keeping our community safe.”

Ruby was booked into the Hopkins County Jail and faces charges of:

  • Trafficking in Marijuana
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Synthetic Drugs
  • Theft of Identity of Another without Consent
  • Buy/Possess Drug Paraphernalia
