EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry has announced the city will host its second “Block-by-Block” neighborhood cleanup this upcoming October.

According to a press release, the cleanup event will be held on Friday, October 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Bellemeade Bayard Park Neighborhood.

We’re told the initiative is one piece of Mayor Terry’s focus on Neighborhood Revitalization.

The Mayor’s Office says their previous cleanup in August saw a team of 90 city employees and volunteers demolish a home, service four blocks with lawn care and heavy trash pickup and provide substantial tree-trimming.

“We launched Block-by-Block in August with the goal of helping to beautify our neighborhoods, and to strengthen our connections in the community,” Mayor Terry said. “We’re using data from departments like the Building Commission and the Evansville Police Department to determine which neighborhoods have the greatest needs, and then we’re working to meet those needs.

Key volunteer groups for the event will be Track Pick-Up, Lawn Care and Community Outreach.
