EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - On Saturday, Jacob’s Village hosted “Under the Stars”, its first ever prom for people will disabilities in Evansville.

Organizers say it was a magical evening of dancing, music and celebration for those living at Jacob’s Village.

“It was a wonderful dance party, and I had fun too,” said one Jacob’s Village resident.

The night kicked off with glam sessions, offering complimentary hair and makeup for all residents.

“It’s important for everyone to feel beautiful,” said Sarah Lee, one of the people helping get the residents ready.

The residents were then escorted in a hot rod and vintage cars to the prom.

“You got to go all out for prom,” said resident manager, Cassie Gerlinger. “That’s how it works.”

Attendees also enjoyed donated food from Chick-Fil-A and danced the night away with friends.

“Our residents have actually been able to go to prom, but tonight is about being able to have it for them here,” said executive director Jamie Espenlaub.

Doors opened at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Jacob’s Village.

Organizers say they hope to have another prom night next year.
