Several dogs removed from alleged ‘Puppy Mill’ in Warrick Co.
WARRICK CO., Ind. (WFIE) - Authorities are investigating an alleged “puppy mill” in Warrick County and are now taking action.
This comes as an update to a story to a story 14 News has been following for several months.
In January, police say implicated the former Warrick Co. Animal Control supervisor in large scale puppy mill operation.
Now, an alleged puppy mill within the county is being investigated by local authorities.
According to county commissioners, animal control officers responded to a tip that expressed concern about the welfare of animals at a location on Folsomville Road.
Animal control officers and Warrick Sheriff deputies reportedly found multiple dogs, some of which appeared to require immediate assistance.
We’re told several of the dogs were removed from the premises and had care arranged.
Commissioners say warnings were issued regarding the care of the remaining animals and the owner has been given 48 hours to address what were perceived as unsatisfactory conditions.
“If shortcomings at the facility are not remedied by Wednesday, May 8, further action may be taken by the County,” officials said in a press release. “Animal Control employees and deputies will return to the address on Wednesday to monitor compliance, and take appropriate action if necessary.”
Warrick Commissioners assumed oversight of the Warrick County Animal Control department last December. Authorities say they will continue to investigate.
