Police: Toddler left alone at fair for an hour

A Kentucky grandmother was charged with leaving her 4-year-old granddaughter unsupervised at a county fair.

Regina Heflin was arrested after workers at the fair called the McCracken County Sheriff's Department.

The police report says the little girl had been playing near carnival rides for over an hour when deputies found her.

Family members say the child ran off after not being picked to pull tickets for a drawing.

"Anybody that has children knows 4-year-olds go through terrible twos," Larry Heflin, grandfather, said. "This young lady has been going through terrible twos since she's one years old."

Authorities say child predators are often drawn to events like fairs because they know children will be there, so parents need to be extra careful.
