Lisa Ling and Magic Johnson coming to Evansville

Journalist Lisa Ling and NBA legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson will be coming to Evansville's Celebration of Diversity Distinguished Lectures Series for the fall and spring 2008.

Ling, a former host of The View and a special correspondent for The Oprah Winfrey Show , will be lecturing on Tues., Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Victory Theatre.

Robiaun Charles, president of the Diversity Lecture Series Board of Directors says, "Ling has covered the Iraq war and the deadly drug war in Colombia."

Tickets are free and will be available on Jan. 26 at the Victory Theatre box office. No tickets will be mailed, and pick-up will be at the Victory Theatre.

Lisa Ling will also being making an appearance 14 News. She will be Mike Blake's special guest on February 19th at 11 pm on Midday with Mike. So mark your calendar to tune in.

Johnson, who is often credited with bolstering the popularity of the NBA with Indiana native Larry Bird, has been a HIV/AIDS advocate since he contracted HIV more than 15 years ago.

He will be lecturing at The Centre on Tues., October 28, at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available on October 4 and are free.
