Indiana Homeland Security Update on Tornadoes

Indiana Homeland Security confirms that the tornado that did so much damage in Daviess County Tuesday was an F-3 twister.

Here is the Wednesday afternoon county by county assessment for southwest Indiana from that tornado and the other severe weather events Tuesday.

Daviess County:

K&K Industries building destroyed.
Approx. 130 residences damaged.
Approx. 20 other businesses damaged.
Damage predominantly on Amish or Mennonite farms.
2 one room schoolhouses damaged.
1 church damaged.
Approx. 1,000 animals killed or destroyed.

Dubois County:

1 structure damaged.

Gibson County:

4 residences damaged.

Martin County:4 residences damaged.
3 structures damaged.
County declared state of emergency

Perry County:

Several roads reported under water

Warrick County:

Wide-spread flooding reported in Boonville and Newburgh
20-50 residences flooded.
