MUHLENBERG CO., KY (WFIE) - A black bear has been spotted on a trail camera in Muhlenberg County.

Isome Sapp posted the picture to his Facebook page Monday night.

He says it was taken on Sapp Farms on the north side of Carter Creek Road.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officials say they have been tracking a black bear that was seen in Ohio County over the last couple of weeks.

They say it could be the same bear and likely came from east-central Tennessee, which is the closest population.

Officials say there was a bear spotted a few years ago in Daviess, Muhlenberg, and Ohio Counties for a few weeks before it disappeared.

They say it's possible it's the same bear, and they believe there is just one in our area right now.

Wildlife officials say people should not try to feed or approach the bear. The say black bears aren't typically considered aggressive, but there's no sense it taking a risk.

Joseph Payton is in Muhlenberg County to speak with Sapp. He'll share more of his story Wednesday evening on 14 News.
