DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) - Community members lined KY-54 on Saturday to show their support for the Henry family.
The funeral procession began at First Baptist Church in Owensboro and processed down KY-54 into Whitesville. Along the way, citizens gathered outside homes and businesses with pink and blue balloons to pay their respects.
"I got two pink and one blue and that represents the two daughters and son," said Ronnie Ling. Ling and his son worked with John Henry and knew the family. That makes today that much more difficult for him.
"Want to be here today to help support, our community and everybody and John and his wife and his family. And I hope good things happen for them," Ling said.
Ling's wife Jana says that the amount of community support left her speechless.
"When I got on 54 to come up here it was just, heart-whelming," said Ling. "I was just overwhelmed."
To Jana Ling, the trials that John and Christin Henry went through have connected with her on a personal level. She did not know the family as well as her husband, but her personal connection to the Henry's resides in her own children.
"I'm a mother and I'm a grandmother of two and I just could not...oh I just could not handle it," said Ling.
It's been a trying time for the Henry family, but Jana Ling says that the community has their back, and they've even got a little extra on their side.
"They've got God behind them so I think they're going to make it. I feel like they're going to make it," Ling said.
