TRI-STATE (WFIE) - Portions of southern Indiana and central Kentucky are now under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. Friday.
Friday is an Alert Day with the potential for severe storms developing late in the afternoon through tonight.
The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded the area to a moderate risk for severe thunderstorms. All storm threats will be in play including damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes. The best chances for severe weather will be after 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Hotter Friday afternoon with temps near 90-degrees with a heat index 95-100.
After all the tornadoes in Iowa, there is the potential for a severe weather outbreak.
Supercells, massive thunderstorms that can spawn tornadoes, will be a threat.
This weekend will feature below normal temperatures in the mid-80's with scattered showers and storms through the weekend. The severe weather threat is low.
