EPD Sgt. Rahm retires after 40-plus years on force

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The Evansville Police Department says goodbye, to one of the mainstays of its force.

Sergeant Lonnie Rahm, called it a career on Friday, after serving Evansville for nearly 43 years. Sergeant Rahm worked undercover narcotics for nine years and also worked in-house, with personnel and training, before getting promoted to Sergeant in 1992.

He's been in that position ever since.

"We see the best of people. we see the worst of people," explained Rahm. "Running into those people that appreciate us and really seek out our true help that's very appreciative of us and it's very rewarding."

Sergeant Rahm served under seven different police chiefs, six different mayors, and eight different US Presidents. Lonnie will also be receiving his 10th Merit Award, Monday, at the department's hiring and awards ceremony.
