EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The sheriff department is thanking a citizen on a bike for the unique way he helped catch a wanted felon.

It happened on April 23 a few blocks from the Vanderburgh County courthouse. Authorities say Jonathan Adams was wanted on an outstanding probation revocation warrant.

A man, who was on a bike, saw Adams running and ignoring authorities. So that man offered Deputy Ryan Barrett his bicycle.

Deputy Barrett, who happened to be in "dress uniform" with a tie, hopped on the bike and peddled after Adams.

The deputy and an Evansville police officer both caught up to him at Cherry and 10th Street and arrested him. The sheriff praised the bike owner for offering the use of his bike.
