MADISONVILLE, KY (WFIE) - Madisonville city council members have passed an ordinance to widen Highway 41 A.
The measure was proposed by the city engineer. It's near the 2100 block of the highway.
The road would open a new route to the Lake Pee Wee making it easier to access the dam, and keep it from clogging and flooding. It will also keep them in compliance with annual inspection and maintenance.
"This is considered a low hazard dam. One of the things that's nice about it is when this dam was built in the 50's, it has had very good maintenance on it," says city Engineer William Jackson.
The city gets $5,000 to widen the road. A start date has not been set.
