MT. VERNON, IN (WFIE) - Tiffany Patrick got the letter from MDWise a couple of weeks ago.

It states, "Changes have been made to your health plan, you need to pick a new pharmacy for the prescriptions you have filled at CVS or Target before December 15."

With such short notice, she immediately called her provider.

"The first person I talked to said it was just an encouragement and that we did not have to switch and so at first I thought okay they just want us to, we're going to be okay and then a couple days later, they're saying now you have to switch," Tiffany Patrick said.

The letter encourages customers to use any Walgreens in the area, saying there are 200 locations in the state of Indiana. The only problem is, there aren't any in Mount Vernon.

"As much medication as my mother is on, I am over there about every couple of days," Tiffany Patrick said.

Tiffany says besides CVS, the closet pharmacy to pick up prescriptions is Evansville.

"but for all the elderly who can't get out of this town. I know people that are on this type of insurance that can walk, but they don't drive. They don't have access to Evansville. I mean they could walk to CVS but Evansville is a lot father away," Tiffany Patrick said.

I reached out to officials at MDWise to try and learn more about the recent change, I am waiting to hear back.

"It doesn't just affect me, it affects everybody in our community," Tiffany Patrick said.
