EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The Evansville Police Department has some flashy new wheels.
D-Patrick Ford donated a 2016 Ford F150 4x4 to EPD's Crime Prevention Unit. The truck is fully wrapped and will be outfitted with public safety equipment. D-Patrick's President, Mike O'Daniel, says EPD does a fantastic job and they wanted to show their support.
"The city didn't have the budget for the police department to go out and buy a vehicle like this and they desperately needed it," says O'Daniel.
"It's a great feeling," says EPD Chief of Police, Billy Bolin. "We need community partners. We talk a lot about partnerships with the community but things like this allow us to be more visible, allow for better outreach with the community."
The donated truck will be used throughout the community but is particularly valuable for community outreach programs. And it can tow the EPD trailers to events, such as National Night out, Kool-Aid with a Cop, and the upcoming Trick or Treat with a Cop.
