EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - A popular restaurant chain with Indiana roots has plans to open up in Evansville.

Scott Wise, who started the Scotty's Brewhouse chain says nothing is on paper, but the company is looking at a few different places that could soon become the new Scotty's Brewhouse in Evansville.

One of those locations is the old Abuelo's building in front of Eastland Mall. Scott says another possibility is somewhere downtown. Wherever they choose, he says he would like to have the restaurant open by the end of the year.

Scotty's has 19 locations open now, with plans to open several more in the coming months, including some in Iowa, Kentucky, and Ohio. Scott says some of the original locations are popular among the college crowds in many of the other Hoosier college towns like Muncie and Bloomington.

"You know, whatever college you went to, you kind of create some of those early on memories, and a lot of times, they involve maybe a beer and some pickles from Scotties, and so that kind of leads to some of our successes in some of these other towns because of our humble beginnings in these college towns," Wise said. "In my opinion. I think there would be no better place, than to continue that college tour and get us open in Evansville."

Scott tweeted about the possibility of coming to Evansville, and he says it quote "set off a bigger fire," than he thought it would, but it is nice to know his restaurant is wanted.

We'll let you know when plans move forward.
