Kendra Tooley trial set for August

POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) - A new trial date for Kendra Tooley has been set.

Tooley's trial is now scheduled to begin on August 22 at 8 a.m. and is expected to last a week.

She was arrested in 2014 for her involvement in the kidnapping of Joelle Lockwood. She's facing several charges including rape, kidnapping and criminal confinement.

The date was set at Tooley's first 2016 court appearance Wednesday morning. She had been scheduled to appear in December and then again on February 8, but both times it was pushed back.

Tooley's trial was previously set to begin on October 5, but Tooley's attorney, Glenn Grampp, asked the court to reschedule.

Grampp says the defense team has also tried to resolve the case with a plea deal, but hasn't been successful. Both the prosecutor and Grampp say that doesn't mean a deal has been ruled out, just that one hasn't yet been reached.

Tooley will be back in court on July 6 for a pre-trial hearing.

The other defendant in the case, Ricky House, was sentenced to a total of 93 years in prison.
