Crews respond to reported explosion, fire at Posey Co. ethanol plant

POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) - Investigators are working to find out what caused a fire at Valero Renewable Fuels in Mt. Vernon.

Fire crews were called to the scene around 4:30 a.m. after a witness reported he heard and felt an explosion.

Several people at least a half mile away say they felt their houses shake after hearing a loud boom.

Crews were on scene for about 3 hours. Wind chills were in the negatives while firefighters worked the scene.

There were no reported injuries.
