HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) - There's an update in a murder case out of Hopkins County.
45-year-old Doug Simmons has agreed to a plea deal in the death of his brother James.
Simmons pleaded guilty to second degree manslaughter and 3rd degree arson for a total of 15 years behind bars.
A Hopkins County grand jury indicted Simmons in July of last year in the murder case.
James Simmons was found shot to death inside his burned mobile home in Hanson, Kentucky.
Authorities ruled James Simmons died from a gunshot wound to the back of the head.
The Hopkins County Prosecutor says the family was on board with this deal.
