KENTUCKY (WFIE) - If a Kentucky state senator gets his way, some Kentuckians will be able to buy marijuana.
Democratic Senator Perry Clark pre-filed the Cannabis Freedom Act.
The bill repeals the state's current total prohibition on marijuana cultivation, possession and sale.
Instead, the senator says the bill is an outline on how to tax and regulate marijuana to people 21 and up.
Clark believes marijuana should be treated the same as alcohol.
The bill will be considered during the 2016 legislative session. That convenes January 5.
