HENDERSON, KY (WFIE) - A portion of Second Street in downtown Henderson will be brighter in the future.
The city is adding new streetlights between the CSX overpass and North Green Street.
Installation of the new, state-of-the-art "antique-style" street lights began Monday.
Residents believe the street lights are a good investment for the city's future.
"It will draw people to the area," said Henderson resident Isaiah Tyler. "I think it's great. It's about time they start spending a little bit of money to make the place look better. They're building new parks and I'm glad they're putting in effort to make the city change, develop and grow."
The project will cost the city just under $300,000. It should be finished in about two months.
