A Once Upon a Child store held its grand opening in Owensboro Thursday.
The store on Southern Boulevard not only puts cash back into their pockets, but also provides gently used children's clothes, toys and other products.
The owners say they've put in a lot of hard work leading up to the opening. The staff, owners, and even some family members from out of town have worked 72 hour weeks getting the store off the ground.
The hard work appears to have paid off. A parade of people came and went all day Thursday, buying merchandise for infants to pre-teens. The store will even buys gently-used children's items for cash.
Co-owner Cate Coakley, is an Owensboro mom of three boys. She says she understands how expensive it is to raise kids today and she wanted to offer an affordable store for local families.
"It feels really, really, really, awesome to be open. It's been a lot of hard work. The employees have put in a lot of heart and sweat into the store getting it ready. It was a little nerve racking, but it seems to be going really well today," said Coakley.
The owners say the Once Upon a Child store in Evansville inspired them to bring the concept to Owensboro.
