GREENVILLE, KY (WFIE) - A statue honoring emergency responders in Greenville will be unveiled next month.

The six-foot-tall, 150-pound metal sculpture depicts the character R-Hero.

He's a cartoon dog who honors emergency responders and teaches kids about being a hero.

There are 24 R-Hero statues but this is the first one in Kentucky.

The unveiling will happen at the Safety Day Celebration on October 17. The statue will be placed outside of Thistle Cottage in Greenville.

The statue was donated to the Felix E. Martin Foundation.
