Dawson Springs celebrates 100th anniversary of Riverside Park

HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) - The community celebrated the 100th anniversary of Riverside Park in Dawson Springs with a ball game on Friday.
The park has been home to several semi-pro baseball teams over the years.
The historic baseball diamond was rebuilt more than 15 years ago.
Baseball announcer Rick Hendrickson has watched countless games and seen players come and go over the years.
His son-in-law, Josh Parrish, played in Friday's Tradewater Adult Baseball Association all-star game.
"It's a privilege to hear him up there and play on the field that he calls on," Parrish told us. "It makes you feel a little bigger than life sometimes, but there are so many people that are way better than me out here."
"This is a special day when he's been involved in two Fourth of July events," said Hendrickson. "Here in the press box, you have to be impartial. I think I've done a pretty good job of it. It's an amazing process to think I've called games for my son and son-in law."
Hendrickson tells us it won't be long before the current players have children and then he'll be announcing their names.
