POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) - Construction could begin later this year on a fertilizer plant in Posey County.
The president and CEO of Midwest Fertilizer tells 14NEWS that construction will begin once the company gets an engineering and construction contract approved.
They anticipate nearly 2500 construction jobs to be available, with more than 200 permanent jobs available in the plant.
"There's going to be employment and good jobs, hi-tech jobs, well-paying jobs, and then spinoffs," said Mike Chorlton, the President/CEO of Midwest Fertilizer
"There will be transportation, construction, maintenance…I mean there's a whole lot of things that will come to this county that will generate business activity, that will generate revenue and taxes."
The goal is to have the plant fully operating by 2019.
