OAKLAND CITY, IN (WFIE) - Two firefighters were hurt responding to a vacant house fire in Gibson County Friday morning.

The fire broke out just before 3:00 a.m. in the 11000 block of Oak Street in Oakland City.

The chief tells 14NEWS the fire started in the back of house, and crews were able to knock it down quickly.

The two emergency responders, who were injured when a hose burst, were treated on the scene.

We're told the fire is being considered suspicious because the utilities were shut off.

The state fire marshal will be investigating.
