EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - A record number of people attended the LGBT pride prom Saturday night.
Austin Kendall was crowded prom king and was awarded his crowd on Sunday.
There were also crowns for prom queen and in-between as well as a 30 minute drag show.
President of Tri-State Alliance Wally Paynter says 1,100 people came to prom and the event is growing every year.
This year, the theme was Alice in Wonderland.
"I'm very honored that I was crowned prom king actually," says Kendall. "I haven't lived here for a long time so it makes me feel very happy and that so many people voted for me and I didn't know a lot of them but I got around and talked to people and everybody there was so nice."
Pride prom is mostly attended by high schoolers but is open to everyone.
