NEWBURGH, IN (WFIE) - In Newburgh people walked along the riverfront on Saturday, raising money for new books and promoting literacy.
Proceeds from the Walk for Literacy go to support the Accelerated Reader programs in Warrick County elementary and middle schools.
Last year $5,000 for new books was raised.
Each school in the county designed a book cover.
Walkers got to vote on their favorite and the winning school will get addition books for their students.
Organizers say they had a big turnout this year.
