UNIONTOWN, KY (WFIE) - The Uniontown Post Office is closed for a couple of days because of one man's actions.

Officers say a man walked into the post office, cut his own hands, and wiped blood on the walls and several post office boxes.

Police are investigating this as an act of criminal damage to property.

When asked why he did it, police say the man told them because he was bored.

Officer Jeffrey Hart says this man's actions affect almost everyone in Uniontown.

"This entire community is now without post office services," he said. "Almost every resident in Uniontown has a post office box. We don't have a walking postal service to go house to house. Almost everyone uses the post office, so it's quite inconvenient for the entire community."

The post office will open after Hazmat teams finish cleaning and disinfecting the lobby.

Police say they're not sure yet if the suspect will be charged with a misdemeanor or a felony. It depends on how much it costs to clean up the mess.
