EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Five schools from around the Tri-State competed in a healthy recipe cook-off on Sunday.
Students from Mt. Vernon, New Tech, Perry Central, and Tell City schools created their own original healthy recipe all using the same three main ingredients: a type of bean, whole grain, and a pepper.
They then added an extra ingredient to enhance the flavor.
The dishes were prepared and critiqued by a panel of judges.
"We had a lot of fun, making it and then just talking to the judges and explaining it, it was a really nice experience," said Marie Schwartz, a senior at Perry Central High School. "Mostly we get self-pride that we would actually be able to win by just cooking, and cooking to be healthy."
Perry Central HS won for the best healthy recipe.
