OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - An Owensboro storage facility is a complete loss after a fire broke out early Saturday morning.

Fire crews say they were dispatched to AAA Rent a Space & Truck Rental around 5:20 a.m.

They say when they arrived, they saw flames coming though the roof of the five-unit storage facility.

Crews say because of the way the building is constructed and how each unit is locked, it made it difficult to get into each locked compartment to put the fire out.

We're told most of the contents inside the building are completely ruined and the building is a total loss.

Officials tell us one firefighter was sent to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for a leg injury. They say part of a wall collapsed when the firefighter was trying to get inside the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
