Coroner releases name of Evansville murder victim

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The Vanderburgh County Coroner has released the name of the man police say was murdered overnight.

The detective's office says the victim, identified as 27-year-old Willie Williams, was shot and killed Thursday night around 11:00. It happened in an alley off Powell between Governor and Elliot.

Police say Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner's confirms that Williams died from the gunshot wound. 

There are no suspects at the time, but detectives say they are talking to persons of interest.
