The official Thanksgiving Holiday begins at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday and ends Sunday at 11:59 p.m.

City, county and state law enforcement in the tri-state will have extra patrols on the road over the next few days in an effort to save lives and reduce injury-related crashes.

Kentucky State Police asks drivers to participate in the "Finish Strong" in 2014 project, by wearing seatbelts, reducing speed, refraining from distractions and never driving impaired.

In Vanderburgh County, the sheriff's office says there's a sobriety checkpoint planned for Wednesday night.

It's from 10:00 p.m. Wednesday to 4:00 a.m. Thursday, but the exact location is not being released.

Also in Vanderburgh County, Kleitz Road will close again Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for culvert pipe replacement from Meier to Kremer.

In Owensboro, the Southtown Boulevard extension to the Airpark is expected to open to traffic Wednesday.
