EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Art can have a positive impact on someone recovering from mental health issue.
There's a new class hoping to do just that.
Peace Zone Recovery Center is hosting a new 12 week art class taught by artist Rob Millard-Mendez. It's a free class for people in recovery from things like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia.
Participants 18 years or older will learn abstract acrylic painting and will even have the chance to enter their artwork in next year's fall art show addressing the stigma associated with mental illness.
The class is every Thursday evening from September 4th through November 20th at Peace Zone at 410 Mulberry Street in downtown Evansville. The class runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Anyone interested can visit their website to complete a class interest form.
